If you're using a different client, it's possible that the outdated client messes up the file. Try updating the client on both ends to match their versions, then the received file will be normal.

The Tera Term application uses an online page as a user guide. Access the website to browse through the pages. To switch to Upload mode, start the application then select Other and input 21 as port. This will enable you to connect to the FTP server instead.
